The Oak’s Bride

In May, the 2010 Next Wave Festival premiered Red Moon Rising’s The Oak’s Bride.

Inspired by Ted Hughes’ ‘Gaudete’, The Oak’s Bride smashes the primitive up against the highly evolved. The performer’s bodies are fragmented and duplicated, illuminating a beautiful and electrifying world out of control, where life struggles with its own shadow.

Infusing strong filmic and multimedia components with an original soundtrack by composer Jeremy Neideck, The Oak’s Bride transformed the gothic basement of Melbourne’s Donkey Wheel House into an intimate performance space.
